Pearls of the Orient (Urban Style)
Do you like this story?
I’m gonna be posting a new set of skyline pictures.
Throughout Asia, only two skylines have lorded it over the region, its Hong Kong and Singapore. Some might protest, saying why Tokyo was not mentioned. Well, Tokyo and Seoul don’t have singular CBD’s (Central Business District) pretty much like Bangkok and Manila, their CBD’s are scattered all throughout each cities’ metropolises.
Shanghai and Beijing on the other hand are not yet at par with both Hong Kong and Singapore.
Hong Kong and Singapore are actually products at contrasts. Singapore, with the help of Lee Kuan Yew, was a product of effective urban planning while Hong Kong has emerged out of sheer development and sprawl.
I’m not gonna make you guess which is which! But I’m gonna ask which do you think has the better skyline.
Hong Kong?!
Or Singapore?!
Take your pick guys!!!!!!!

I remember seeing the site from your photo the last time I was in HK. We were at a river cruise ship having dinner and the site made it perfect, so I pick HK. I haven't been to Singapore, but the picture looks nice too. I would love to see it for myself. Baka next year. *crosses fingers*
Interesting note on how Hong Kong and Singapore differed in their way to success. I just wanna add how both HK and Singapore similarly used their busy ports as key players to their development. Wow, I might have learned something from my first course in college.
Salamat sa link bro, hanep, full name. Nagulat pa ako. :D Keep on posting!

nice post, but I think you should use this perspective of the skyline, http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1304/1068882029_0bea763660_b.jpg.
This is so as it showcases more buildings and hence a more complete skyline, you can use another photo from the shears bridge as well.

Having been to both cities, for me there is no comparison. The first impression of the skyline of HK harbour (especially at night) is breath-taking. Singapore actually has a very small CBD by comparison and there isn't really a big cluster of buildings.
In terms of economic dominance, it is obvious with China backing HK, I believe HK will soon emerge as a truly 'Alpha' city alongside New York, London and Tokyo.
