He definitely is the country's most celebrated, most influential, most admired and most popular sports figure in the country today. He could even be the most popular Bisaya right now. Definitely, he is the most well-known of all Mindanaoans as of late.
He can possibly unite the country even just for 12 rounds (or even less). Inspire young men, both from the academe and of the sidewalk, to aspire for excellence and prosperity in their lives.
This former baker's humble helper has certainly a story that has touched some hearts and lives of all those that has got to read his story.
Here's the anticlimax: What's with him that I have learned to hate him?
number 01. BECAUSE HE WAS SO GULLIBLE TO ENTER POLITICS. You gotta admit that he was a laughing stock when he ran for the Philippine Congress and failed to do so. I don't want to sound discriminating, but you gotta know the know-hows first! A great boxer knows that he needs extensive training to beat his opponent. He should have thought about it first when he ran for the Congress.
number 02. HE'S ACTUALLY MAKING MOVIES! He, together with Filipina actress Ara Mina have entered the Metro Manila Film Festival a few weeks from now. Can he concentrate on boxing instead?
number 03. HE KEEPS ON SAYING THAT HE DOESN'T GET TIRED WHENEVER HE WAS BEING BEATEN UP BY HIS OPPONENTS, SAYING THAT HE WAS CLINGING ONTO THE FIGHT BECAUSE OF THE FILIPINO PEOPLE. I don't question his intentions, but the fact that you say it all the time makes it sound too jaded. Sounded like a politician to me too!
number 04. HIS OVERCONFIDENCE IS KILLING ME!. Everyone knows his darn so good but he can be over the top. For real.
number 05. TOO MUCH PRIDE, I guess? It's great to confident. It's great to be strong-willed and feisty. His is just making some Filipinos turn away from him.

I hate his accent (no offense meant to those coming from Manny's side of the archipelago).
i hate him as in really,I agree to the 1st thing that you said.
He's definitely the ENGLISH DESTROYER...
Knockout na knockout ang English!
Wow really? You hate Pacquiao because he makes movies?? Wow what a total douche you are. Just because some dude decides to go to another profession he is hated. WOW. I guess you hate Arnold for bein an actor, then being a governor?? and "too much pride"?? how so? how can you prove this?? just because he prays in the corner before he fights? Jeez, you're a dickhead you know that, just to hate on a person who inspires a whole nation. Don't get me wrong, i'm not even filipino, i'm white american, but dude, seriously ... you "hate" him because of shitty reasons. Do you "hate" Pacquiao or just resent his victories and wish him to fail in the future? FUCK YOU DICKHEAD!
wow, those were strong words man.
don't worry, i'm cool with your comment. but hey, i like him as a boxer. i made that clear and i am proud of him.
but if we get into the other side of him (manny -the womanizer, manny -the singer, manny -the gambling lord, manny -the politician, manny -the egomaniac) that's when the hating starts.
and by the way, consider using a cleaner language the next time you get here.
thanks!
I hate him too, man. I agree with you.
I mean, entering into a new profession isn't really bad, but talk about entering into something that he doesn't have an inkling about - moreover, a thing that concerns the country (or part of our country)'s future!
Oh yeah, just because he won in boxing matches, he's now eligible enough to enter politics!!! I mean that's just shitty!
The movie thing. He's a GREAT, AWESOME boxer, but I gotta speak up that he's no actor. My opinion. Like what the dude said, why can't he focus on boxing instead?
I'm proud of Manny Pacquiao, but he's waaay overrated. Heck, all the news is about him, his girlfriend, his concubine, his trainings, his fave food, his dog, his boxer shorts and all those shits.
There are lots of intellectuals in Phil but all that the government supports are people who run after balls and punch some guy in a ring. The foreigners assume that all we have here are those people.
I hate all the attention that is focused into him.
