Ryan Star

Ryan Star was one of the finalists for Rockstar: Supernova, a supposedly incredible reality show wherein the winner would be the front man of a new hard metal band called, well, Supernova. Tommy Lee and former Red Hot Chili Peppers bandmates make up the new band.
The competition drew finalists from different parts of the globe. And the eventual winner is Lukas Rossi from Canada.
I thought the competition was a bit tad pretentious. It was too pop to be considered pop.
However, my reason for making this post is about this one amazing performance from losing finalist Ryan Star. He sang "Losing My Religion" and see why it's worth raving for.
Enjoy the video!

Thoughts On The Lakers-Spurs Series

If I were to summarize what happened earlier (Lakers won btw, hahaha!), I will be menntioning a few players from both teams and give these players short desciptions regarding what they have accomplished on this all-important game. Ready? Let's start with...

Sasha Vujacic(LAL) - Such an angel. Mostly underrated but very effective in defending against Parker.

Kobe Bryant(LAL) - Basketball man-god. Anything that needs to be pointed in here?

Brent Barry(SAS) - The evil prick in the series. He keeps on making three pointers, the same goes with the monkey Michael Finley.

Tim Duncan(SAS) - Chronically boring.

Manu Ginobili(SAS) - THE dead chicken of the entire series. Thanks chicken!

Jordan Farmar(LAL) - Who would have thought he would be productive whenever Kobe's resting?!

Lamar Odom(LAL) - The Spurs had NO answer to him. Haha!

Derek Fisher(LAL) - In my opinion, the disappointment from the Lakers squad. His foul troubles make it harder for him to guard Parker.

JR Aquino

Who's JR Aquino btw? He's an American Idol reject a few seasons ago. Apparantly, he has since found his "ground" by posting his covers through YouTube and through his Myspace page (http://myspace.com/jkeeno).
And now that Charice Pempengco and Arnel Pineda has been getting all praises, thanks to their YouTube antics, Filipino pride is riding once more. Amidst all of the Meralco scams and rice shortages (which in my opinion is not true), allow me to showcase this amazing Fil-Am talent singing one of my faves "Tonight I Wanna Cry" of Keith Urban. Enjoy the video.
Fast forward to 2010, (i must have done this post 3 years ago) this video is no longer available. Too bad. :(

Facebook's Better Than Friendster

Social metworking sites are such a hit to anyone and everyone who's engrossed in the cyberworld. It's a chance for people to get into contact with old friends and get to know others as well. The most popular of these includes Myspace, Facebook, and Friendster.
In the Philippines, the definite most popular one would be, Friendster. I had my Friendster account opened around 5 years ago, back in 2003.
However, saturation period has been reached and now, i only open my friendster tro check on messages, and friend requests, and testimonials. But for me to pimp it up (or if you're a girl, glam it up) would not be an option. I have just grown tired of this craze.
So now, there's only one social networking site that I keep on updating. Just Facebook. Even my Myspace's hardly updated!

Blogging as an empty stage

Don't you sometimes feel that blogging can be an empty and boring stage? You're like a stand-up comic yet no one reacts to what you're saying. The auditorium can hold a large-audience capacity, yet. you only get handfuls and handfuls only.
Isn't it pretty depressing?

¿Puede Los Ángeles batir San Antonio en una batalla de los santos?

In English, the question asks, "Can The Angels (Los Angeles) beat St. Anthony (San Antonio) in a battle of the saints?"
As of this writing, the Lakers lead 2-1 in their best of seven series. However, the Spurs made a major massacre (to Laker standards) with a 19-point margin to take Game 3.
In my heart, I kept on swearing whenever Manu or Tim or Luis or Tony, or any of the Spurs guys score. Especially when Finley hits the three! But anyways, I hope the Lakers will take Game 4 and round up the series on Game 5 at the Staples.
Sounds like I was wishful thinking huh?! Nice try Spurs fan. They were just on home court.

Goodbye Guga

One of the heroes of my adolescent tennis enamorment is Gustavo "Guga" Kuerten. Since Roland Garros is my favorite Grand Slam tournament, learning to love his tennis wasn't easy. After all, he shares with Rafa Nadal the distinction of winning 3 French Open titles.
After winning his final Roland Garros back in 2001, he has since went on a decline, with the arrival of the Hewitts and Roddicks then continued on with the advent of Ferreros, Federers, Nadals, and now, Djokovics.
Now, he has called it quits. The former world number one would always be one of the all-time greats in the surface. After all, he's South America's most succesful tennis player, being more successful than Guillermo Vilas of Argentina and second only to compatriot Maria Bueno.
Brazilian soccer fans have their Peles and Ronaldos and Ronaldinhos, volleyball fans have their Barros', but for tennis, Guga would be forever etched up there.

Obrigado Guga para seu tênis. Você deixará o mundo inteiro do tênis triste.

Who Says Gas Price Is On The Rise?

If you'd look closely, you will see the gas prices in Manila reached heights that we never thought we would be reached.

I was never really worried with diesel gas prices. I always have this thinking that it will always be cheaper than gas so I don't really mind about diesel prices. But now, it has breached the P40-level! I'm now worried about oil prices! Now, Gas has gone over P50! That's how bad the situation has become!

Now that everything's going up, who would want to go bankrupt first? Certainly not me! That's why I'm looking for other ways to keep myself at bay from the crisis. Should bikes be better alternatives to raging oil prices? How about working at home? At least I have the option to just stay at home and work.

Whatever the heck we might think of as a solution, it won't change the fact that prices are going up big time! Would winning the lottery be the only logical solution left?

Its David vs. David!!!!!!!

Its David versus David!

Syesha just got voted off a few hours ago. I hope David Cook wins it all! Unless all of the young American Idol audience plus the whole state of Utah would be on a connivance to pick popularity over sheer talent, then David Archuleta would win it hands down. But please, Idol has made the same mistake with Chris Daughtry and Clay Aiken. David Cook needs to win. May all of America combine forces to win the title for David Cook!

In the meantime, here's how a certain fan idolize David. Too bad, I can't vote for him.

Justine Retires From Tennis

The news of her abrupt and shocking retirement from the sport has surely surprised everyone who has got to admire that smashing one-handed backhand of hers. Her small frame was not even a problem to her clinching 7 grand slam titles, 41 singles titles, nearly $20 million in prize money and over 100 weeks on top of the women's singles rankings.

Justine's certainly a person that will be missed terribly by all those who love tennis. Here's what her peers has got to say about her sudden retirement:

"Pound for pound, Justine is the greatest player of her generation, Justine is an extraordinary player and a special person, and a true champion—both in tennis and in life." -Billie Jean King, tennis legend.

"It’s obviously a shock for the tennis world." Roger Federer, current men's world number one.

"She was a great champion and she gave me a world of trouble." Serena Williams, former women's world number one.

"She always challenged herself to play her best tennis no matter what the circumstances. She was just a real fighter, so I think that was really what made her best." Venus Williams, former women's world number one.

"Justine Henin will be remembered as one of the all-time great champions in women’s tennis, and a woman who made up for her lack of size with a will to win and fighting spirit that was second to none. It is rare that an athlete leaves at the very top of her game in this day and age, but Justine has always played by her own rules, in the very best sense of those words." Larry Scott, WTA Tour CEO.

Justine will always be remembered as a gritty girl from Belgium who shocked the world with her amazing determination, talent, and nerves of steel. Merci de rendre le tennis plus passionnant.

American Idol 7 Top 3

I feel like I'm pretty much dragging myself into making this new American Idol post. Anyways, we're down to our last three performance. Those left are Syesha, David Cook and David Archuleta.
The last time I wrote in here, Brooke White and Jason Castro were still around. Too bad, they're gone. And they deserved to go!
However, David Cook paled this week as David Archuleta shone with his rendition on Rock classics. So we have David Archuleta here. Hope you'll like it. Enjoy!

Kobe Bryant: 2008 NBA MVP (hell yeah!)

After 10 years of being at the NBA, my favorite Kobe Bryant from my favorite team since childhood, Los Angeles Lakers, has finally won the coveted regular season MVP for the first time in his already bejeweled career.
There's nothing much I can write in here. Congratulations Kobe!

Haha! Nadal Was Beaten On Clay!

BACK TO REALITY was how Yahoo! descibed Rafael Nadal latest clay-court loss. For those who doesn't know anything about tennis except for Sharapova, Kournikova, and the Willamses, Rafael Nadal has been the tennis claycourt god for the past 4 years. In 105 claycourt matches since 2005, it was only his second loss.
My one-time favorite tennis player Juan Carlos Ferrero has been the hero in this match. He won over Rafa on straight sets, 7-5, 6-1.
Can you see the agony on Rafa's face? Priceless!
